Not a gold mine. 不是金矿

Dreams of finding lost treasure almost came true recently. 寻找丢失宝藏的梦想最近差点成真了。

A new machine called the Revealer has been invented, 一种叫Revealer的新机器被发明出来了

and it has been used to detect gold which has been buried in the ground. 它被用来探测埋在地下的金子。

The machine was used in a cave near the seashore, 这台机器在海边的一个洞穴里用过

where it is said pirates used to hide gold. 据说海盗以前常在那儿藏金子。

The pirates would often bury gold in the cave and then fail to collect it. 海盗们经常把金子埋进洞里，然后又忘了去取。

Armed with the new machine, 带着这台新机器

a search party went into the cave, 一支搜索队进了洞穴

hoping to find buried treasure. 希望能找到埋藏的宝藏。

The leader of the party was examining the soil near the entrance to the cave, 队长正在检查洞口附近的泥土

when the machine showed that there was gold under the ground. 这时机器显示地下有金子。

Very excited, 大家激动坏了

the party dug a hole two feet deep. 挖了个两英尺深的坑。

They finally found a small gold coin, 最后找到了一枚小金币

which was almost worthless. 几乎不值钱。

The party then searched the whole cave thoroughly, 然后他们彻底搜遍了整个洞穴

but did not find anything except an empty tin trunk. 但除了一个空铁皮箱啥也没找到。

In spite of this, 尽管如此
